Privacy Notice

MakerCache operates MakerCache and is the data controller for the personal data described here — we decide what is collected and why. This page is maintained by us to answer common privacy questions about the app.

What we collect and why

• Account data (email address, login credentials, and — if you choose to set one — a username): to create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
• Workshop content (items, quantities, photos you add, storage locations, projects, shopping lists, app preferences): to provide the service and sync it across your devices. Legal basis: performance of our contract.
• Purchase records (which Cache Expansion you bought, the amount, and the payment provider's transaction reference): to grant your capacity and show your receipts. Legal basis: performance of our contract and legal obligation. We never see or store your card details.
• Technical data (IP address, device and browser information, error logs): to keep the service secure, prevent fraud and fix problems. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a safe, working product.
• Support messages you send us: to answer you. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

If you use MakerCache without an account, your workshop stays in your browser's local storage on your device and is not sent to us.

Who we share it with

• Service providers who host the app, database, authentication and error logging on our behalf.
• Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of Cache Expansions, payment processing, tax compliance, invoicing and refunds. Paddle handles payment data as its own controller under its privacy policy.
• Google, if you choose to sign in with a Google account.
• Professional advisers (legal, accounting) and authorities where required by law.

We do not sell your personal data or use your workshop content for advertising.

Retention

We keep your account and workshop data for as long as your account exists. Delete your account from My Workshop and your profile and workshop content are removed; purchase and tax records are retained for as long as the law requires, then deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. You can export or delete everything yourself from My Workshop, or email hello@makercache.app and we'll respond within one month. If you're in the UK or EEA you can also complain to your local supervisory authority. Where data is transferred outside the UK/EEA we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures including encryption in transit, hashed credentials and access controls that restrict every workshop to its own account. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Cookies and local storage

MakerCache uses only essential cookies and browser local storage — to keep you signed in, to remember your theme, and to hold your workshop when you use the app without an account. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Clearing your browser storage signs you out and removes any guest workshop on that device.
